Construction has begun! Smallsea closed during May
Hi everyone, We are thrilled that construction on the new wing of the museum is now underway. Yesterday the workers broke through the wall and the connection between the old space and new wing is a reality. We begin work on building the display tables and front welcome desk this coming week. During the construction, Smallsea is closed. If all goes as planned, the reopening of Smallsea ,in its bigger and better version, will be the week of June 7th. We are planning a party to celebrate. I will post the date as soon as we are certain of the reopening date.
A few notes about what to expect with the renovation. The original space will not be as crowded. Several buildings are moving into the new wing. There will be a proper welcome counter for visitors at the entrance to Smallsea. In addition to information about Smallsea, we will be stocking a small selection of dollshouse kits and a limited amount of high end furniture for sale at the welcome counter. In the new wing, there will be new buildings as we get them finished and a couple of large buildings we simply did not have room in the past to display. There will be places to sit and relax as well as a library of books on dollshouses and miniatures to look through.
We also hope to hold at least one event a quarter. The first one will be a "sidewalk sale and silent auction" in July. Emails and snail mails will go out to announce the date. To make sure you know about the Sale and the Re-Opening Party, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
That's it for now. Hope to see you soon at Smallsea!
